What Is the Regenexx Approach?

The Regenexx approach is a system of regenerative orthopedic care that helps your body heal itself.

Your Regenexx benefit is built on a conservative care pathway.

That means your network physician may start with the least invasive options first — such as physical therapy or low-dose steroids — before recommending orthobiologics. If additional care is needed, a procedure using Regenexx injectates (your own cells concentrated to treat the injury) may be the next step.

This thoughtful, step-by-step approach ensures every treatment recommendation is appropriate for your specific condition — helping improve mobility and quality of life with less downtime and the ability to return to activity as tolerated.

The Regenexx Approach

Uses custom concentrations of your own cells to support healing

Uses an injection-based treatment method with no cutting or removal of tissue

Can reduce the need for pain medications, including prescriptions such as opioids and corticosteroids

Can reduce, significantly delay, or eliminate the need for many elective orthopedic surgeries

Provides an alternative to traditional treatment or surgical approaches for people with orthopedic conditions or musculoskeletal injury

Regenexx Orthobiologics

Physicians in the licensed Regenexx network use orthobiologics in their procedures. Cells taken from blood or bone marrow are prepared using Regenexx lab processing which allows the treatment injectate to be fully customized in both concentration and dose. These treatments use your own cells and require advanced imaging during injection to precisely target the area(s) of injury — helping repair and restore function while reducing the need for surgery, long recovery times, and prescription medications.

All Regenexx network physicians follow standardized protocols to ensure consistent quality, safety, and precision.

Treatment plans may include one or more specialized orthobiologic injectates:

Regenexx SD Injectate

A patented bone marrow concentrate (BMC) protocol that collects and processes the patient’s own mesenchymal stem cells. Regenexx SD routinely achieves 20x concentration, far exceeding typical non-Regenexx methods.

Regenexx SCP Injectate

A “supercharged” form of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Blood is processed to isolate and highly concentrated platelets and growth factors, which are then injected with imaging guidance for accuracy. Regenexx SCP delivers higher growth-factor concentrations than standard PRP.

Regenexx PL Injectate

A next-generation platelet lysate (PL) derived from PRP, offering a faster and more potent release of growth factors. PL is often paired with SCP or bone marrow concentrate as part of a customized treatment plan.
