John Batson, MD

Dr. Batson, a Lowcountry native with more than 20 years of experience, is dedicated to helping patients improve mobility and return to the activities they enjoy. He is the only physician in South Carolina who is board-certified and fellowship-trained in both Sports Medicine and Pain Medicine, offering a unique depth of expertise. Known as a national speaker and published author, he takes a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to care, using fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided injections to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Batson values taking the time to understand each patient’s history, perform a thorough exam, and review imaging to guide clinical decisions. He emphasizes patient education and collaboration, helping individuals feel informed and confident in their care plan.

His clinical focus includes non-surgical treatment of back pain, arthritis, and chronic tendon conditions. Dr. Batson has experience caring for professional and collegiate athletes and has served as a volunteer team physician for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team, as well as a longtime team doctor for Lowcountry high schools. Outside of the clinic, his passion for an active lifestyle began with competitive windsurfing and work as a local kayak guide, and continues today as an endurance paddleboarder. He also serves on the board of The Outside Foundation, supporting environmental stewardship and youth outdoor programs. Dr. Batson enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and dogs and remains deeply connected to the community he serves.
